Outdoor Activities from Crescent Isle Cottages

Canoe and kayak at Tracadie Bay, Prince Edward Island.Kayaking & Canoeing  Tracadie Bay offers paddlers a variety of day trips so if you paddle bring your canoe/kayak along. From our easy to launch beach you can paddle through soft, still waters in the warmth of the summer sun, and watch sunsets and full moons over your bows. The waters of Tracadie Bay also offers protected and sheltered paddling options for the whole family. You can paddle the waters that connect the Bay up the gentle flowing Winter River past emerald green landscapes into untouched marshlands at the Rivers head. Paddle across the Bay to breathtaking miles of untouched sand dunes and great swimming or just follow miles of scenic shore line. From our beach, more experienced paddlers can go out the harbor mouth into the open north shore waters of the Gulf of St Lawrence. From our area you can rent kayaks from Outdoor Expeditions or tour Tracadie Bay in a 24' canoe from Outdoor Pursuits.

Blue HeronNaturalists and Bird Watchers  Bird watchers will be trilled with daily sightings of the areas nesting bald eagles, osprey, blue heron and many shore birds. You can watch them soar from your deck or veranda or stroll the beach at low tide. Red foxes and rabbits inhabit the surrounding forest and are frequently spotted by the side of the road.

Golfers  Our central and affordable location offers golfers easy access to a number of the premier golf courses on the island. The Links at Crowbush Cove are a mere 15 minutes away. Stanhope Golf and Country Club is 10 minutes away. Other courses accessible within 30-45 minutes of Crescent Isle Cottages include Dundarave Golf Course, Green Gables Golf Course , Fox Meadow Golf Club and Brudenell River.

Star gazers  Clear night skies offer the star gazer unconstructive views of many constellations. Vistas of meteor showers and shooting stars are some of highlights of the summer skies.

Beach Combers  Beach combers can stroll along our waterfront and enjoy a view of the sand dunes across the bay to the north or you can traverse the point and enjoy a view of Winter Bay on the south side. Miles of uninhabited sand dunes at Blooming Point and in the National Park at the Dalvay entrance are minutes away.

Swimmers  Swimmers can bath in the warmest waters north of Florida thanks to the Gulf Stream that surrounds our island. Our shallow beach is safe for young children and waders. North shore supervised swimming is minutes away at Brackley Beach in the National Park.

Bicycling and Walking Trails  Our property is within five minutes to bicycling and walking trails in the National Park with its panoramic ocean views or the extensive paths of the Confederation Trail are also a short drive away. Bike rentals are available in Charlottetown from Smooth Cycle, or in the National Park at Dalvay by the Sea.

Sport Fishing  Nearby options for fishing includes deep sea fishing excursions for the whole family at Covehead Harbour through Salty Seas Deep Sea Fishing and Tours .

Lobster and blue musselsDining   Dining options in the area includes both nearby finedining or dock side cafes. A large variety of restaurants in near by Charlottetown are only 20 minutes away.

Seafood  Cook our local Tracadie Bay blue mussels, lobsters, halibut, haddock, scallops and other seasonal seafood on the barbeque or in the comfort of your cottage. Fresh catches are available daily at the near by harbours of Tracadie Bay and Covehead The worl famous New Glasgow and St. Ann's Lobster suppers are a 40 minute drive.

Shopping  During your stay you can visit the
craft shops and art galleries scattered across
queens county, such as Dunes Gallery
and The Confederation Centre.
